For seven years now I have been dedicating a lot of time to researching health, fitness, bio-hacking and philosophy. My goal has been to implement a system that I can realistically incorporate into my life, allowing me to concentrate on the bigger picture: living and enjoying every year of my life with vibrant health and energy and staying fisically fit and mentally razor sharp in order for me to keep on doing the things I like whilst approaching 60 years of age....and beyond.

DISCLAIMER : THESE ARE MY PERSONAL IDEAS ON BIO-HACKING, EXERCISE, AND WELL BEING IN GENERAL AND MIGHT NOT WORK FOR YOU

I really enjoy running, working out, traveling, playing chess and (free) diving, all activities that requiere a healthy body and mind.

The whole idea here, is to keep on going, being able to do all these things for a couple of decades at least.

In this sense my focus is on maintaning optimal health for as long as possible and NOT on getting to 120 years old...

No, high bloodpressure is not ok because you GP tells you it is normal at your age.....

Since my youth, I have been interested in health related topics; however, I am not a doctor, nor do I have any medical training, I am a personal trainer, I have been teaching diving, boxing and kettlebells but that is as far as it goes.

Here you can find information about my experience and ideas on how to stay strong, calm, resilient and healthy while getting older. These ideas are mine and might not work for you, however I like the idea of sharing my discoveries and ideas with others, and hopefully they will be of some help and contribute to something better.

I am convinced that what doctors, physicians and governments in the US and Europe consider to be a healthy diet is far from optimal, and optimal is what I am looking for and proof of this can be found in the longevity and biohacking communities.

Every year, new studies show us better, newer and more accurate results therefore I am always willing to change my protocols and routines as new information and studies emerge.

BEST TIPS AND IDEAS ON BIO-HACKING, EXERCISE, AND WELL BEING WHILST APPROACHING 60 !!

THE "KISS" PRINCIPLE

"K.i.s.s" means........ keep it stupid simple.

My main idea here is to keep things simple, I have noticed that lots of people seem to have problems organizing themselves in order to achieve this way of eating, sleeping and exercising, including myself.

In this day and age it is very difficult to find time for anything, even more for long morning routines, reading biohacking books, watching endless YouTube videos, and the list goes on.

Therefore, it is crucial to organize yourself well. I am chaotic by nature and my main problem was to get all this done, in a day, and this every day of the week.
I really thought about it and came up with the following :

  • Weekends are days off, obviously, if I have time and nothing is impeding me, I will make time for my routines.
Having a social life, spending time with your family, seems to be one of the major reasons why people in the blue zones are thriving.
  • if you cant do your workout or you miss a supplement or you sleep 6 hours for one day.... do NOT panic or think too much about it, all will be good.

  • I don't use supplements on during the weekend, this also gives my body, especially my liver, some rest.

  • Daily boxes for your supplements and pre-mix your powders save you 15 minutes a day

  • Don't get caught up in all the pseudo-science and anecdotal evidence of all the newest hippest supplements
Some supplements work beyond any scientific doubt (like creatine), if you need this supplement, use it. If there is no evidence nor a very very strong indication (i.e. MNM) that it might work, don't use it, don't buy it, and don't spend hours researching on the internet.

  • Write down, time and memorize your routines, and try to combine things.
When I do my breathing session, I am having my red light therapy at the same time. When I do my stretching, I listen to an audiobook etc.

  • Small workouts, mini workouts , in between things, especially with resistance bands. I have my 3 big workouts a week, and the rest, is in between everything These 3 big workouts are sacred, but the rest of my workouts are done "on the fly"

Last but not least : your state of mind....

  • Feed your mind with positive, productive and clean information.
I don't watch the news, I try to stay away from social media as much as possible, I choose my subscriptions wisely, and I try to read something every day. Like this, you can save a lot of time.
I discovered philosophy about a decade ago, Stoicism has been of great help (and fun) and maybe the most important Bio-hack of all

STATE OF MIND.....THE BIGGEST HACK OF ALL

Ok, again, let us keeep this simple...

We are approaching 60 years of age, we need to keep that brain up an running , protect it from nasty age related neurological deseases and find a balanced state of mind.

Our state of mind and our general wellbeing obviously is super important for our general wellbeing.

One of the first things I learnt from my WHOOP was the huge influence of stress not related to excersise on my body

I like to think of my brain as if it were a computer. Do you remember these laptops from 20 years ago with Windows 5 installed ?

Starting up the computer would take minutes, to install new software and downloading a movie would take ages.

Not installing an antivirus and anti-malware software would almost certainly be like a death sentence for your computer, and to keep it running properly, you would need to run a scanner and segment your disk frequently.

After a few years, your computer could not run the software anymore due to the size of the newer programs and heavier websites, and the resolution of your graphics cards couldn't cope with the latest video games (I pride myself on never ever having played a video game). Basically, it could not handle the huge input anymore in order to function properly, the computer would get overheated and you would need to turn it off in order to reset itself run all kinds of tests and scanners and in the worst case reinstall windows again.

You get the story. We live in a world in which we are constantly bombarded with information.

Distraction is everywhere, and we live in an unstable world and society.

The air we breathe is polluted, we can't drink water from the tap, our food contains all kinds of chemicals, and we are sitting in front of screens the whole day long and communicating via 5G for hours a day absorbing information all day long.

KISS...keep it super simple...without getting into science and overthinking....NOT GOOD for us and especially for our brain.

So, what can we do ?

1. Making sure the brain receives all the nutrients it needs.

2. "Install an antivirus"

3. "Install an anti-malware"

4. Switch it off and turn it on
